About
A tool for keeping contractor licenses from lapsing.
A contractor with licenses in several states deals with several boards, several renewal cycles and one calendar that nobody owns. ClearLicensed gives that company one list, and a team to do the filing when they would rather not.
Who it is for
Contractors who hold more than one license.
HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, pest control and general contracting companies, from a one-truck shop with a license in two states to an office manager keeping 40 licenses, bonds and insurance certificates current for a whole crew.
Why it exists
The renewal is rarely the hard part.
Remembering it is. Every state runs its own board, its own cycle and its own CE rules, and the bond and the insurance certificate behind a license run on dates of their own. So we built a list that does the remembering and emails you well before each date, and a filing service for the renewals you would rather hand off.
About the state data
How we source and check the rules.
Licensing rules change, and a few boards are hard to read. This is how we keep the pages honest.
We start from the board
Each record comes from the licensing board's own pages, the statute or rule behind it, or another official source. The links are on the page.
We say how sure we are
A state gets "Full rule details" only after we checked its renewal rules against an official source. The rest say "Reminders only for now", often because a board site would not load for us.
We date every record
Every license type shows when we last checked it, and each state has a date for its next review. When a source page changes, we look at the record again.
You can tell us
Every state page and license card has a "Report a problem" button. We read each report and fix the record if it is wrong.
State data is informational. Check it with the issuing board. Read the data disclaimer
Your data
How we handle your data and portal logins.
The short version. The full page explains what we store, who can see it and when it is deleted.
- We never ask for your board portal username or password, and the app has no place to enter one.
- Uploaded documents sit in private storage and open only through links that expire.
- Card payments go through Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Each company sees only its own data. You sign in with a one-time code, so there is no password to leak.
How we work
Three rules we follow.
Show the sources
Every state record links to where it came from and says whether we have checked it. If we could not confirm something, we say that.
Say what we do not do
We are a tracking tool with an optional filing service. We are not a law firm and not a state board, and we never promise an outcome that the board decides.
Keep it to the trades
Built for contractors who hold licenses in more than one state and would rather be on a job than on a licensing portal.
