How it works
How ClearLicensed works in three steps.
It is a tracker first. It remembers the dates and emails you. When you would rather not do the filing, our team can.
1Step 1 of 3
Sign up and add your licenses
- Sign up with your email and a one-time code. No card for the 14-day trial.
- Pick a state and license type. The board, renewal cycle, CE rules, a link to the official renewal page and an approximate fee come filled in from our catalogue, with a badge and source links.
- Type in your license number and expiration date. Add the bonds, insurance and workers' comp certificates behind them.
2Step 2 of 3
Get emailed before each date
- Emails go out 90, 60, 30, 14, 7 and 1 day before each expiration, and again if something lapses.
- Everyone on the team sets their own schedule. Premium adds a weekly summary email.
- The dashboard and calendar show what is coming up, by state, with days left.
3Step 3 of 3
Renew it yourself, or send it to us
- Renew on the board's website, then log it here: new date, fee and confirmation. The history stays.
- Or request managed filing. You see the quote first, then our team files it by hand and uploads the confirmation.
- Log CE hours and attach certificates as you go, so the next renewal starts with the paperwork done.
FAQ
Questions people ask first
What does ClearLicensed do?
It keeps one list of every contractor license, CE requirement, bond and insurance certificate your company holds, in every state, and emails you before each one expires. You enter your own expiration dates, so it works for any state. If you would rather not do the renewal yourself, you can ask our team to file it for you.
How accurate is the state licensing information?
Your reminders follow the expiration date you enter, so they do not depend on our state data. The rule details we show (renewal cycle, deadlines, CE hours, official links) come from the licensing board or another official source, with links to the pages we used. Checked states carry a "Full rule details" badge, the others say "Reminders only for now". Some boards block our research tools, so a few states are less checked than others. Rules and deadlines change, and fee amounts are approximate, so treat everything as general guidance and confirm with the board before you rely on it. When a fact is missing, the page says "Not published, check with the board" instead of guessing.
Is this legal or compliance advice?
No. ClearLicensed is a tracking and reminder tool, plus an optional filing service done by our staff. We are not a law firm and not affiliated with any state licensing board. We cannot promise that a license will be renewed or stay in good standing.
Which states are covered?
Reminders work for every state, because you enter your own dates. Full rule details (renewal cycle, deadlines, CE hours, official links) are available where we have checked them. The states page shows which states have them today. For any other state or trade you can still add a license and get the same reminders.
How do the reminders work?
By default each person on your team gets an email 90, 60, 30, 14, 7 and 1 day before a license, bond or insurance item expires, plus one if it lapses. They go out at 9 AM in your organization's time zone. Everyone can change their own schedule or turn the emails off. Premium, and every trial, also get a weekly summary email.
Do I need a credit card to try it?
No. A new account gets 14 days of the Basic plan without a card. When the trial ends the account moves to the Free plan: one license with email reminders, for as long as you like. Pick a paid plan any time to track more.
