Check the current fee with the board. Renewal, late and reinstatement fees are set on the board's fee schedule in GOALS. Since July 1, 2026, O.C.G.A. Title 43, Chapter 14 (rewritten by Senate Bill 553) keeps two-year renewal, limits late renewal to 31 days after expiration, sets separate reinstatement paths for licenses lapsed under 3 years and 3 years or more, and does not let unused CE hours carry forward. Class I covers single-family homes, townhomes and multifamily buildings (including duplexes, hotels, motels and apartments) up to three stories, and commercial buildings up to 20,000 square feet (the 2026 law raised this from 10,000 square feet). Master Plumber is the qualifying license for a plumbing business. Journeyman plumbers renew separately.

Notes

Georgia has no state roofing license. The Board's 'Traditional Specialty Contractors' policy statement (under O.C.G.A. 43-41-17) lists Flat Roofing, Sheet Metal Roofing and Shingles and Shakes as specialty trades that do not need a residential or general contractor license when working within the specialty (limited-service list also covers repair/re-roof of existing roofs without structural work for weatherization contractors). Roofing work that includes structural work or general contracting scope above the license threshold requires a Residential/General Contractor license (see those entries). Licensing/registration/business-license requirements are local (city/county) and vary by jurisdiction. A voluntary industry license exists (GARCA) but is not a state license.
