Roofing
Roofing (no separate state license)
No license required · State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors (GA Secretary of State, Professional Licensing Boards Division)
Georgia does not issue a state license for this work. Check with your city or county.
Georgia has no state roofing license. The Board's 'Traditional Specialty Contractors' policy statement (under O.C.G.A. 43-41-17) lists Flat Roofing, Sheet Metal Roofing and Shingles and Shakes as specialty trades that do not need a residential or general contractor license when working within the specialty (limited-service list also covers repair/re-roof of existing roofs without structural work for weatherization contractors). Roofing work that includes structural work or general contracting scope above the license threshold requires a Residential/General Contractor license (see those entries). Licensing/registration/business-license requirements are local (city/county) and vary by jurisdiction. A voluntary industry license exists (GARCA) but is not a state license.
