Notes

Maryland has no separate state roofing license; roofers contracting directly with homeowners for residential repair or replacement need an MHIC contractor license (commercial roofing is not state licensed). Renewal total = $281.25 application fee per place of business ($281.25 for each additional location) + $175 Guaranty Fund assessment = $456.25 per 2 years. Subcontractors working for an MHIC licensee need no license (since July 1, 2016). Phone 410-230-6231 or toll-free 1-888-218-5925. Counties and cities may also require local trade or business licenses.
