Notes

Minnesota has NO state license for HVAC/mechanical contractors or individual HVAC workers. Businesses contracting for gas, heating, ventilation, cooling, AC, fuel burning or refrigeration work must file a $25,000 mechanical contractor bond with DLI (Minn. Stat. 326B.197); bond filing can be submitted online or mailed with check to State of Minnesota. Cities may additionally require local contractor licenses and worker licenses/competency cards (issued by cities, not DLI). Bond must be on DLI form, signed and notarized, from a Minnesota-licensed surety.
