- Grace period
- The Board's 2026 renewal form says renewal closes December 31, 2026 and a license not renewed by then can only be reissued after passing an examination. Neb. Rev. Stat. 81-2118 allows an expired license to be renewed within three months of expiration for the renewal fee plus 10 percent of it for each month or part of a month late. Confirm with the Board before relying on the three-month window.

Show the details (amounts are approximate)
An expired license may not be used to install electrical equipment. The Board requires a new exam application for a license not renewed by December 31 of the even-numbered year; under Neb. Rev. Stat. 81-2118, a license expired for more than three months always requires a new license application.
Fees change. Check the official site for the exact amount.
Why approximate?
Boards change fees often and some charge extra processing fees. We show a recent amount so you can plan.
- Bond
- Not required
- Insurance
- Same Rule 7 minimums as Electrical Contractor ($100,000 per person / $300,000 per accident / $100,000 property damage) when actively owning/operating an electrical contracting firm (editorial note in rule text suggests amounts may be revised).
