How it works
Where the dates come from
State rules on file, checked against the licensing boards where we could, with the sources under every answer.
One date for everyone
Many boards renew every license of a type on the same day, for example Aug 31 of even years. The checker counts to the next one. If you type your own date, yours wins.
A date of your own
Other licenses renew a set number of months after they were issued. Type the expiration date from your license card and the checker counts the days and shows what renewing late costs.
Licensed by your city
Some states leave a trade to cities and counties, or do not license it at all. The checker says so, and you can still set up a reminder from the date on your local license.
FAQ
Questions about the checker
Where do the deadlines come from?
From the renewal rules we collected from each state licensing board, with the sources linked under every answer. When a board renews every license of a type on the same date, the checker counts to the next one. When the date depends on when your license was issued, type the date from your license card.
Are the fees exact?
No. Boards change fees often and some add processing charges, so we show a recent amount to help you plan. The official renewal site has the exact amount.
What if my state does not license my trade?
Some states leave a trade to cities and counties, or do not license it at all. The checker says so. Ask your city or county, and you can still set up a reminder from the date on your local license.
Do I need an account to use it?
No. The checker is free and needs no signup. If you want an email before the date, the Free plan covers one license with email reminders, no card and no time limit.
