- Grace period
- The certificate is not in good standing after June 30. The statute gives a 30-day grace period after June 30 to renew without a late fee; a certificate not renewed before July 31 is revoked. The regulation also lists a $250 late renewal fee, so ask the Attorney General's office whether it applies during the 30 days.

Notes
Kansas has no state roofing license, but roofing contractors must hold a roofing contractor registration certificate from the Attorney General for each fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). Renewal fee $250; initial registration $250, or $125 if issued January 1 to April 30. Payment is by check or money order; the office has no e-payment. Renewal needs a Kansas Department of Revenue tax clearance, a liability insurance certificate of at least $500,000, workers' compensation proof or an exemption affidavit, and a sworn statement about felony convictions. Some general contractors for whom roofing is incidental may be exempt. Roofing Registration Unit, 120 SW 10th Ave, 2nd Floor, Topeka KS 66612-1597, [email protected]. Local roofing licenses may also apply (for example Johnson County Class DR).
