Commercial general contractor (no state license)
No license required · Michigan LARA Bureau of Construction Codes (Licensing Section; includes Electrical Administrative Board, State Plumbing Board, Board of Mechanical Rules)
Michigan does not issue a state license for this work. Check with your city or county.
Michigan's Article 24 residential builder licensing covers residential structures and combination residential and commercial structures only. There is no state general contractor license for purely commercial construction; cities such as Detroit may have their own requirements. Builders doing electrical, plumbing or mechanical work need those trade licenses.
