- License is suspended if not renewed by the expiration date. Late fee per CID/PSI: about $1 per day for days 1-30, then an amount equal to one year's fee for days 30-90; after 90 days the license is cancelled. State law (NMSA 60-13-18(G)) allows about $1 per day up to 30 days and thereafter twice the renewal fee, so the amount billed can be higher than the PSI figure.
- Grace period
- No grace period: the license is suspended the day after expiration. It may still be renewed (with late fees) within 3 months/90 days of expiration.
- Insurance
- Workers' compensation insurance is required of all licensees (proof is filed with the NM Workers' Compensation Administration, not CID). A $10,000 contractor license code bond from a NM-authorized surety must cover the entire license term; renew with a new bond or continuation certificate covering the full 3-year term. No general liability minimum is set in 14.6.3 NMAC.
