Reciprocity
Michigan does not hold reciprocity with any other state or country (LARA). Out-of-state licensees submit a copy of their license and that jurisdiction's licensing requirements (hours, schooling) for case-by-case review. The Skilled Trades Regulation Act also allows a temporary nonrenewable license for out-of-state licensees in good standing (MCL 339.5219) and licensure without exam for qualifying military members, veterans and dependents (MCL 339.5223).
Notes

Contractor license must be tied to a qualifying Master Electrician (the licensee or a full-time Michigan-resident employee). If the qualifying license lapses, the contractor license is placed on hold until renewed and LARA is notified. Expiration may affect ability to pull permits. City of Detroit issues its own electrical licenses/registrations locally.
