The CE rules, as recorded from the sources
Who approves courses
- The qualifying party must complete 4 hours of CE approved by the Committee of Roofing Examiners each year to renew the commercial endorsement (HB 3800, signed May 12, 2026, as announced by CIB).
How CE ties to the renewal
- The CIB roofing page and the 2020 rules still show 4 hours every 36 months; confirm with CIB which cycle applies to your next renewal.
- CE must be done before the endorsement renews.
First renewal, exemptions and inactive licenses
- The commercial endorsement can now be placed in inactive status (no insurance needed, but annual renewal and CE still required).
