Registrants in good standing on or before January 1, 2027 can be grandfathered by applying, paying the fee and completing 10 hours of approved CE or passing the exam; from January 1, 2028 the endorsement is required for all residential roofing work and 4 hours of CE are required for its renewal; labor-only crews must work directly for an endorsed contractor. Commercial roofing needs a qualifying party who is an officer, partner or owner employed full time.
